About once a quarter or so, I have to travel to Atlanta for work. I always like having the opportunity to head back to town, but one downside is I have to swap my running shoes for dress shoes. 😆

Generally, it’s a Tuesday-Thursday trip. I always naively think it won’t be too big of a disruption to the training plan. And each time, I look back and wonder why I thought it would be smooth sailing.

For this trip, I did a bunch of workout shuffling ahead of time. I had a long day of meetings on Thursday, so I figured I’d make that my recovery day for the week.

I also was traveling to Atlanta for the first time with a Life Time membership, so I wouldn’t be searching for a pool or stuck with a hotel gym. That worked out great. There’s a Life Time right next to the office, which is right next to the hotel I was staying at.

Unfortunately, one thing I didn’t account for…which isn’t necessarily a bad thing…was everyone in ATL wanted to celebrate my birthday! It was 3 days of unhealthy meals AND 3 days of alcohol. You only turn 40 once, but meh. I should have had stronger willpower.

I ultimately had two missed workouts, but one unplanned activity: a 2-hour hike with Katy on Saturday.

As of now, I won’t be back to Atlanta until May. Hopefully when that trip rolls around, I’ll finish that week with all green boxes!
