This week is an exact duplicate of what I did two weeks ago before the flu hit. Last week’s workouts were supposed to be way tougher, but since I’m still recovering from everything, it makes more sense to take a step back and ease into things. This week will be another chill week, just to make sure I’m fully recovered. Then, next week, the runs get intense again!

I did Tuesday’s run on the dreadmill at the gym. It was EMPTY.

This is probably a combination of New Year’s Resolutions that started to bust combined with the flu. I saw that this is the highest rate of flu infections in Tennessee in more than a decade. How lucky that I got to be part of it. 🙄

On the bright side, the flu week did have a silver lining. All those minor aches and pains that sometimes pop up during workouts were gone. I felt SO fresh with everything I did this week. I’m not thrilled I had the flu, but maybe there was a tiny bit of good in it.

My Apple Watch definitely sees when I had the flu.

On Friday, I used my recovery day to get my yearly physical done. All my vitals were great. I’ll find out about my bloodwork next week. It’s always a bit nerve-wracking waiting for the results, but I’ve never had anything come back abnormal. The wait brings out the hypochondriac in me.

On Sunday, I successfully completed the run that I couldn’t get done two weeks ago as the flu had started bearing down on me. It was a bunch of tempo work. Thankfully, none of the hard intervals were when I was running straight into the wind. It was VERY windy and cold!

After three weeks of anticipation, it's finally time for the harder run week!
